I agree! That IS what yoga is. And what initially brought me to the practice 10 years ago. But that “come as you are” thing is no longer as prevalent. Classes might be inviting (if you have the money to spend), but so many of the classes I’ve taken in the last 5 years have told me to shun my pain and focus on HAPPY THOUGHTS. I’ve also worked for some of the biggest companies and names in the business and they are capitalizing on our shame — body shame, emotional shame, mental shame — all of it. It’s needs to be examined and talked about more.
